Synthesis Capital Group brings systematic precision to private wealth management — preserving and compounding capital for families, entrepreneurs, and institutions who measure success across generations, not quarters.
"The purpose of capital is not to generate returns. It is to create options — for your family, your time, and your legacy. Returns are how we get there."
— Synthesis Capital
Every client relationship is built around a single question: what do you need your capital to accomplish — for your life today, and for the generations that will inherit it?
Markets reward patience, discipline, and humility. Our philosophy is built on all three — structured enough to remove emotion, flexible enough to respect the uniqueness of each client's life.
Synthesis Capital is led by professionals whose careers span institutional finance, systematic trading, advanced market infrastructure, and client-focused financial planning. Together, we bring the discipline of institutional investing to the personal work of private wealth management.
Fred is the Director of Wealth Management at Synthesis Capital, with over seven years of experience helping individuals, families, and business owners build and protect long-term financial security. He operates as a fiduciary, placing client interests at the center of every recommendation and plan.
Fred specializes in portfolio construction, retirement income distribution, and comprehensive financial planning. His process integrates asset allocation modeling, risk tolerance assessment, and systematic rebalancing with detailed cash flow analysis, Monte Carlo–based retirement projections, and tax-aware investment strategies designed to enhance after-tax outcomes. He collaborates closely with clients' tax and estate professionals to support efficient wealth accumulation, distribution, and transfer across generations.
He began his career at Equitable Advisors, where he built a broad client base and developed expertise in both individual financial planning and corporate retirement plan design and management, including 401(k) structures.
Fred holds a B.S. in Political Science with minors in Finance and Economics from the University at Albany, and maintains Series 7, Series 66, and SIE licenses. He takes a goals-based, data-driven approach — and believes the most important part of financial planning is understanding what the numbers actually mean to the people behind them.
Michael is the Founder, President, and CEO of Synthesis Capital, with over a decade of experience in financial technology, systematic trading, and quantitative research. He leads the development of the firm's market infrastructure, algorithmic trading systems, and data-driven investment strategies across equities and derivatives markets.
In partnership with the firm's CTO, Michael co-designed and built a high-performance colocation environment at the Equinix NY4 data center, deploying a 100-server architecture with multi-petabyte storage and a 100GbE networking backbone to support ultra-low-latency market data processing and execution.
Prior to founding Synthesis Capital, Michael held trading and quantitative research roles at T3 Trading Group and Quasar Trading. At both firms, he developed and deployed volatility models used to identify mispricings and structure positions across the options surface. His focus centered on systematic, defined-risk strategies — managing directional exposure while capturing volatility edge — as well as rules-based income-generation models built around selling calls and puts in defined volatility regimes. His work spans real-time data systems, backtesting frameworks, and execution architecture for high-performance trading environments.
Michael holds a B.S. in Finance from Siena College and has also studied Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the State University of New York at Buffalo, applying a multidisciplinary approach to financial systems design and quantitative modeling.
Nathaniel is a Founder, Chairman, and Chief Investment Officer of Synthesis Capital. Few practitioners bring together the institutional pedigree, derivatives depth, and cross-market breadth he has accumulated over nearly three decades at the highest levels of global finance — a career spanning major financial institutions, complex derivatives markets, and the evolving frontier of systematic trading.
Nathaniel served as an Executive Director at J.P. Morgan, where he managed the global crude oil swaps and options portfolio — a role that placed him at the intersection of macro risk, geopolitical price dynamics, and the intricate mechanics of non-linear derivatives structures. In that capacity, he was responsible for risk oversight, pricing strategy, and portfolio management across one of the most volatile and consequential commodity markets in the world.
Before J.P. Morgan, Nathaniel held senior trading roles at Harris Bank (BMO), BNP Paribas, and Bank of America, building fluency across commodities, structured products, and multi-asset options markets. This breadth of institutional experience — spanning bulge bracket banks, global commodities desks, and complex structured product environments — gave him a rare ability to see risk through multiple lenses simultaneously.
At Synthesis Capital, Nathaniel applies that institutional foundation to the design and construction of sophisticated investment strategies across equities, futures, options, and digital assets. His work bridges systematic and discretionary approaches, with a consistent emphasis on capital efficiency and the kind of rigorous portfolio construction that institutional-scale experience demands.
Nathaniel holds a B.S. in Finance from the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland and an M.S.A. from the University of Connecticut.
Jim is the Chief Technology Officer of Synthesis Capital. With more than 30 years of experience architecting low-latency market data and execution systems, he is one of a rare class of technologists who were shaping electronic trading before it became the dominant paradigm of global markets — he doesn't just understand modern trading infrastructure, in many ways he helped build it.
His work began in the 1980s, when he developed some of the earliest stock market terminals and SaaS-based analytics platforms, harnessing direct exchange and vendor data feeds to deliver real-time market intelligence to institutional trading desks — at a time when doing so required solving problems that had no established playbook. That pioneering instinct has defined his career ever since.
Over the decades, Jim has architected high-performance market data and execution systems engineered for deterministic, ultra-low-latency operation. His processing engines are capable of handling the full scope of U.S. equities and options markets in real time — without reliance on distributed infrastructure — a technical achievement that reflects both deep systems-level expertise and an uncompromising standard for performance. The systems he has designed and deployed are in active use at banks, hedge funds, and proprietary trading firms across the globe, supporting live execution across U.S. and international markets.
His contributions to latency-sensitive data processing and execution architecture place him among the practitioners whose work quietly underpins the modern high-frequency trading ecosystem — not as a follower of industry trends, but as one of their originators.
At Synthesis Capital, Jim brings that foundation to bear on next-generation trading infrastructure, applying decades of hard-won systems expertise to environments where speed, precision, and reliability are non-negotiable. He is also the founder of SSE Innovations Group, where he continues to advance the frontier of trading systems design and market data engineering.
